Dr. Riggs
Dr Rex Riggs grew up in Wadsworth, Ohio, near Akron. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. Dr Riggs joined Dr Ritchie at Best Friends in 1988. He firmly believes continuing education is important, and consequently attends multiple veterinary conferences yearly. He has attended veterinary conference all over the world, including Australia, New Zealand and Scotland.
One of Dr Riggss favorite quotes is from Woody Hayes, the legendary OSU football coach. "You can never really pay back. You can only pay forward". Dr Riggs volunteers much of his time helping animals and people and to better veterinary medicine. He is a board member of the North Central Region of Canine Companions for Independence, and was awarded the 2010 John Warnock award recognizing their national volunteer of the year. He also serves on the board of The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Society as well as the Small Animal Advancement Board at the college. Most recently Dr Riggs was approached by Embrace Pet Insurance to join their board and become their veterinary advisor. He writes a monthly article on veterinary medicine for their blog.
Dr Riggs lives in Lewis Center with his wife Nancy, their two cats Speeder and Franklin and their dog Maggie. Outside of work Dr Riggs is an avid golfer and cyclist. He also loves to travel and enjoys photography.
